Markets continue solid morning performance during afternoon session on January 12.
Both the HSX and the HNX finished the afternoon session on January 12 higher, maintaining the momentum created during the morning session. The HSX closed up 6.39 points (1.15 per cent), while the HNX increased 0.55 points (0.72 per cent).
The HSX saw 158 shares increase and 65 decrease, with the VN30 basket seeing 25 shares increase and four decrease.
Large caps making major contributions included VCB, which rose 1.9 per cent, VNM 1.7 per cent, MSN 0.7 per cent, and CTG 0.6 per cent.
It was small and mid caps that carried the day’s trade, however, with HHS increasing 6.5 per cent, TSC 6.4 per cent, DLG 5.5 per cent, FLC 5.3 per cent, and HAG 3.7 per cent.
Finance shares saw very good trade, as HCM rose 6.39 per cent, OGC hit its ceiling of 5 per cent, SSI increased 4.02 per cent, FIT 3.41 per cent, BSI 2.27 per cent, and BCG 0.52 per cent. Finance shares also traded well on HNX, with VND increasing 3.74 per cent and SHS 2.86 per cent.
All banking shares rose on HSX: VCB by 1.91 per cent, STB 1.63 per cent, BID 1.58 per cent, and MBB 1.46 per cent.
The HNX was also in good shape, seeing 127 shares increase and 67 decrease, while the HNX30 basket had 20 shares increasing and five decreasing. Mid caps also carried the day on HNX, with VCG finishing 2.9 per cent higher, PHP 1.9 per cent, SHB 1.6 per cent, and VCS 1.4 per cent.
Foreign investors net sold yet again over the course of the day, by VND4.9 billion ($218,540), and marked the eighth consecutive day of net selling in the VN30 basket. The basket saw net selling of some of VND20 billion ($892,000), with a focus on shares with high prices such as VIC, by VND22 billion ($981,200), and SSI, by VND10 billion ($446,000).
