Citi Vietnam last week celebrated its 10th annual Global Community Day in Vietnam, as nearly 800 Citi’s volunteers engaged in various service activities to benefit local communities in northern Ninh Binh province and southern Ba Ria Vung Tau province on June 6 and 13, respectively.
Nearly 400 Citi colleagues, family members and friends worked side-by-side with 200 young local volunteers to plant over 1,200 casuarinas trees and clean up the beach in Phuoc Hung commune in Long Dien district, Ba Ria Vung Tau province.
The group later headed to the Long Hai Community Center to distribute new school bags, notebooks, and stationery to 50 poor students with excellent academic results. At the same time another group reached out to approximately 200 orphans and disabled children at the Long Hai Center for the Social Protection of Children, to give them essential food items.
Reaffirming the bank’s commitment to environmental sustainability, Citi Country Officer in Vietnam, Ms. Natasha Ansell, said at the start of the activities: “On this day we remind ourselves and those around us of the importance of giving back to the surrounding communities and realize the impact of our actions on the natural environment. Today, we are proud to enable the progress of the green movement and improve the lives of the local community.”
