Some of morning's gain lost but VN-Index up overall.
The VN-Index had a bright start in the afternoon session on December 11, rising to 566.96 points in the first 30 minutes before the momentum petered out and it closed at 563.43 points, losing 2.29 points in the session but finishing the day 2.39 points higher.
The market saw 141 shares increasing, 74 decreasing, and 70 closing at their opening price. Market liquidity was low, with 99 million shares changing hands, of which 94 million were traded via matching order and 5 million via put through.
Over the course of the week the market lost around 10 points on the back of low liquidity, with none of the sessions seeing a trade volume in excess of 100 million shares via matching order.
The VN30-Index closed slightly down against the morning session but was up 5.51 points, or 0.96 per cent, for the day.
Six shares headed downwards in the afternoon session. KDC and SSI both had a good afternoon before falling in the very last order matching of the session. KDC fell 0.35 per cent - its third day of losses - while SSI finished down 0.88 per cent.
In banking, VCB failed to replicate its solid increase in the morning but rose nonetheless, by 0.24 per cent. STB and EIB maintained their increases in the afternoon and reached their ceilings of 6.19 per cent and 6.86 per cent, respectively. BID and CTG fell by 0.99 per cent and 0.55 per cent, respectively.
GAS today ended eleven days of falls by increasing 0.79 per cent. Other gas shares didn’t fare so well, however, with PGD losing 0.45 per cent and PGS 0.56 per cent, while PCG hit its floor in losing 9.09 per cent. PVG, CNG and ASP all closed at their opening prices.
Foreign investors repeated their behavior from last week - selling strongly during the week but to a lesser extent on Friday. Last Friday saw net selling of some VND49 billion ($2.17 million) after three days of strong selling. Today saw net selling of VND47 billion ($2.08 million) after net selling of VND1 trillion ($44.44 million) from Monday to Thursday. They focused on DXG today, with net buying of VND1.6 billion ($71,140) and TDH with VND350 million ($15,554), while selling VIC, with VND11.67 billion ($518,614), and VCB, with VND13.22 billion ($587,496).
The HNX-Index increased slightly today, by 0.32 points, or 0.41 per cent, against this morning’s opening.
