Session sees further ground gained after major decline at opening of morning session.
Following on from the recovery made towards the end of the morning session, the afternoon session saw strong increases that pushed the VN-Index into positive territory, rising 1.87 points, or 0.31 per cent, against the opening. The HSX saw 129 shares increasing, 88 decreasing, and 70 closing at their opening price.
The VN30-Index contributed to the recovery, rising 2.46 points (0.41 per cent), with ten share increasing, nine decreasing, and eleven closing at their opening price.
VNM stemmed its previous losses, closing at VND125,000 ($5.55), VND2,000 ($0.09), or 1.63 per cent, higher than its opening price. Liquidity was low, however, with only 1 million changing hands, or just half of the volume seen in the previous two days. Foreign investors accounted for one-third of the trading volume, buying 138,480 shares and selling 188,100.
Blue chips in food and beverages were higher, such as KDC, by 2 per cent, and SBT by 2.67 per cent, with liquidity in both increasing significantly against yesterday.
MSN ended three days of decline, closing at its opening price of VND70,500 ($3.13).
Banking shares failed to recover sufficiently to offset the morning’s losses. VCB fell 0.43 per cent, BID 1.31 per cent, and STB 1.63 per cent. Other banking large caps closed at their opening prices.
FLC also closed at its opening price but recorded the highest liquidity on HSX during the day, with some 16 million shares changing hands, of which foreign investors sold 209,850 and bought just 25,000.
Other real estate stocks with large caps, such as VIC, ITA, NLG and ASM, ended the day at their opening price.
The HHS today hit the floor as this stock decreased 6.43 per cent, closing at VND16,000 ($0.71) per share. The HHS trading is not impact significant to the market but attract curious attention of investor due the odd trading volume today. HHS today saw 16 million of shares trading , this is the highest trading volume this share record ever, account for 6.84 per cent of the company’s outstanding shares.
Foreign investors today keep selling much more higher than selling as they bought some 7 million of share at about VND168 billion ($7.46 million) in value, and sold over 16 million of share at about VND315 billion ($13.99 million).
HNX-Index today increased slightly of 0.41 point (0.51 per cent) to reach 82.06 points. The market saw 110 shares increasing, 81 decreasing while 180 remain the same.
