Poor afternoon session on November 27 sees VN-Index close at lowest point since early October.
The VN-Index fell dramatically in the afternoon session on November 27, by 7.54 points, or 1.28 per cent, to close at 582.86 points; its lowest close since early October. The market saw 70 shares increasing, 159 decreasing, and 54 closing at their opening price. Total trade volume was 142 million shares valued at VND2.1 trillion ($93.48 million). Over the course of this week the VN-Index lost 21.6 points.
The VN30-Index also saw a sharp decline, by 7.45 points, or 1.25 per cent, finishing the day at 590.59 points. Only two shares rose, 27 fell, and one closed at its opening price.
VNM failed to maintain its momentum from the morning, losing VND3,000 ($0.13) in the afternoon to increase just VND1,000 ($0.04) for the day, closing at VND124,000 ($5.52). Some 1 million share changed hands, with no trading at all by foreign investors.
MSN hit its lowest price since mid-2010, losing 1.43 per cent today to close at VND69,000 ($3.07). Total trade was 176,500 shares; almost half of that seen the day before.
KDC saw its third consecutive day of increases, finishing at 0.39 per cent higher. Over 1 million shares changed hands, of which foreign investors sold 633,410 and bought only 2,160.
Banking shares were in negative territory, with all large caps falling. BID lost 1.39 per cent, VCB 2.42 per cent, CTG 2.05 per cent, MBB 0.69 per cent, STB 0.85 per cent, and EIB 2.68 per cent.
Speculative stocks recorded the highest liquidity in the market. FLC saw the highest trade volume of the week, with some 24 million shares changing hands, closing down 3.49 per cent. Foreign investors were strong sellers, totaling 354,050 shares on the day and selling the most over the course of the week.
OGC saw the second-highest liquidity, with some 12 million shares traded, and closed 2.44 per cent higher.
HAG has fallen for four days in a row, finishing today at VND12,600 ($0.56), for a loss of 3.82 per cent. Foreign investors continued to sell strongly, at 558,910 in total, accounting for 10 per cent of the volume.
The HNX-Index also fell, by 0.42 points or 0.51 per cent, to close at 81.49 points. It saw 79 shares increase, 111 decrease, and 182 close at their opening price. Total trade volume was around 65 million shares, valued at VND577 billion ($25.66 million).
