VNMid the best performer among sub-indexes as HN-Index the only major index to close down.
The HNX-Index was only the main index to close lower on May 24. On HSX the VN-Index increased 0.59 points (0.1 per cent) and the VN30-Index 0.17 points (0.03 per cent), while on HNX the HNX-Index was down 0.01 points (0.01 per cent) and the HNX30-Index up 0.05 points (0.03 per cent).
The UpCoM Index also fell, by 0.1 points (0.18 per cent).
HSX saw 112 shares increasing and 94 decreasing while HNX saw 148 increasing and 117 decreasing.
The VN-Index fluctuated during the day, twice exceeding 612 points in morning trade before closing at 610.87 points. Early in the afternoon session is slipped to 608.32 points then peaked at 612.82 points before easing to 611.62 points at the close.
Mid-caps had an impressive day, with the VNMid increasing the most among the sub-indexes, by 4.16 points (0.54 per cent), while the VNSml rose 2.02 points (0.27 per cent).
Among the five largest caps only CTG increased, by 1.2 per cent, while VNM and VCB were down 0.7 per cent and 0.4 per cent, respectively. Among relatively large caps, meanwhile, HSG closed up 5.2 per cent, MWG 4.4 per cent, PVD 2.5 per cent, NT2 2.3 per cent and MSN 2.2 per cent.
On HNX, DBC, PVS and LAS increased 2.4 per cent, 1.1 per cent and 0.4 per cent, respectively, while SHB fell 1.5 per cent, VCS 1.2 per cent and NTP 0.2 per cent. ACB, PHP, PVI and PLC were among large caps to close at their opening price.
Foreign investors net bought on both markets, by VND62 billion ($2.77 million) on HSX and VND12 billion ($537,360) on HNX.
