UpCoM dips slightly as other indexes have solid May 16.
All major indexes closed higher on May 16, with the VN-Index increasing 4.96 points (0.81 per cent) and the VN30-Index 5.20 points (0.85 per cent) on HSX while on HNX the HNX-Index rose 0.48 points (0.59 per cent) and the HNX30-Index 1.76 points (1.21 per cent).
The UpCoM index, meanwhile, fell 0.48 points (0.84 per cent).
HSX saw 93 shares increase and 118 decrease while HNX saw 154 increase and 138 decrease.
On UpCoM 77 shares increased and 58 decreased.
The VN-Index increased in both the morning and afternoon sessions, after bottoming out at 508.63 points in the middle of morning trade before reaching 615.08 points then easing to 612.73 points at the close. It then spent most of the afternoon around the 612-point mark before peaking at 616.05 and closing at 615.78 points.
VNM, the largest cap, increased 1.4 per cent on trade of some VND95 billion ($4.25 million).
Other large caps to finish up included GAS and VIC, by 2.8 per cent.
Among banking shares, STB and VCB increased 3.4 per cent and 1.5 per cent, respectively, while CTG, MBB and BID closed down 1.1 per cent, 0.7 per cent and 0.5 per cent, respectively.
On HNX half of the ten largest caps closed higher while most of the remainder closed at their opening price. PVS rose 5.7 per cent, VCS 2.4 per cent, ACB 1.6 per cent, VCG 1 per cent and PHP 0.5 per cent.
Foreign investors net bought on both markets, on HSX by some VND36 billion ($1.61 million) and on HNX by some VND14 billion ($627,620).
