Index spends most of April 20 above 570 points but fails to hold its ground.
Only the VN30-Index finished in positive territory on April 20, as the others finished down. On HSX the VN-Index closed 0.25 points (0.04 per cent) lower and the VN30-Index 0.29 points (0.05 per cent) higher, while on HNX the HNX-Index fell 0.05 points (0.07 per cent) and the HNX30-Index 0.02 points (0.02 per cent).
The HSX saw 85 shares increasing and 132 decreasing, while the HNX saw 127 increasing and 148 decreasing.
The VN-Index spent the day around the 570-point mark, reaching a peak in the morning session of 571.66 points and a peak in the afternoon of 571.63 points. Both failed to hold, however, and the Index finished the day at 568.03 points.
VNM was the perhaps the most disappointing performer of the day, as the largest cap in the market increased 0.72 per cent in the morning but closed down 2.2 per cent at the end of afternoon trade.
VIC, meanwhile, managed to retain its morning increase of 1.6 per cent, as did GAS and BID, which both closed 0.6 per cent higher.
VCB fell 0.47 per cent in the morning but finished the day 0.9 per cent higher.
MSN was down 0.72 per cent in the morning and continued downwards, closing 2.2 per cent lower.
On HNX, large caps PHP, NTP, ACB and PVI fell by 0.9 per cent, 0.8 per cent, 0.6 per cent and 0.4 per cent, respectively. Large caps finishing up included CHP, by 1.5 per cent, and VSC 0.7 per cent. Those closing at their opening price included PVS, SHB, VCG and SQC.
Foreign investors today net bought on HSX by some VND138 billion ($6.19 million) and on HNX by some VND23 billion ($1.03 million).
