Index exceeds 630 points in morning trade before easing.
Among the four main indexes only the HNX30-Index closed down on June 21. On HSX the VN-Index increased 1.54 points (0.25 per cent) and the VN30-Index 2.78 points (0.16 per cent), while on HNX the HNX-Index finished 0.14 points higher (0.16 per cent) and the HNX30-Index slipped 0.2 points (0.13 per cent).
The UpCoM-Index also closed down, by 0.22 points (0.38 per cent).
HSX saw 117 shares increase and 96 decrease while HNX saw 160 increase and 123 decrease.
Liquidity on HSX was some VND2 trillion ($89.68 million) via order matching, an increase of 16 per cent compared to yesterday, while on HNX liquidity was some VND593 billion ($26.59 million), 5 per cent higher.
The VN-Index fluctuated around 630 points during morning trade, peaking at 631.77 points mid-session. In the afternoon it gradually fell, closing at 628 points.
Oil and gas shares carried the market yesterday but today lost momentum, with GAS down 1.6 per cent and PVD 0.3 per cent.
VNM played a significant role today, increasing 1.5 points.
In banking, VCB was up 0.2 per cent while CTG, BID and MBB closed at their opening price.
HPG increased 2.1 per cent and VIC 0.9 per cent.
On HNX, ACB and PHP closed at their opening price and SHB, PVS and DBC were down 1.6 per cent, 1.1 per cent and 0.3 per cent, respectively.
Increasing large caps included NTP, up 1.9 per cent, VCB 0.8 per cent and PVI 0.4 per cent.
Foreign investors net bought on both markets, by VND83 billion ($3.72 million) on HSX and VND19 billion ($851,960) on HNX.
