Bigger and better

After a number of refurbishments, Michelia Hotel Nha Trang remains one of the most famous hotels in Nha Trang.

Michelia Hotel Nha Trang was established in the early 1900s in Nha Trang, known as La Fregate. When it first opened the hotel quickly became a popular destination, with 13 bedrooms and an 80-seat capacity restaurant. After two years of refurbishment, in 1968 its managers, Mr and Mrs Tules Forse, reopened the hotel with 30 spacious and cosy bedrooms. The second refurbishment, in 1972, turned La Fregate into one of the most beautiful and famous hotels in Nha Trang.

The majority of guests were French authorities, foreign investors, and businesspeople, since La Fregate belonged to the old Saigon Government. In April 1976, a year after reunification, the running of the hotel was turned over to the Khanh Hoa Tourism Company. In 1999 the company was equitised and the name Michelia adopted, managed by the Thang Loi Tourism Company. In 2006 Thang Loi’s Board of Management decided to rebuild and upgrade the hotel from 68 to 201 bedrooms, in order to meet the requirements of the four-star standard. The hotel was completely restored in 2011 with European architecture and now provides services of European standard.

The 12-storey hotel, located in the heart of Nha Trang city, now features 201 superbly appointed rooms and suites. Its spacious rooms elegantly satisfy the demand for luxury accommodation with a relaxed and tranquil seaside ambience. The interior of each room has been designed with a delicate and functional romanticism to ensure a welcoming feel.
The professional and friendly services at Michelia can be fully felt in its Red Tilapia Restaurant, where guests can taste various European and Asian dishes and get to know the friendly chef and enthusiastic waiters. Smiles are always on their faces, to give guests a sense of being at home and to encourage them to return to the Michelia whenever they are in Nha Trang. “I’m a regular visitor to Nha Trang and Vietnam,” said one Australian guest. “I reluctantly recommend this hotel to anyone, as I would rather keep it all to myself. The staff are fantastic, always smiling and so friendly and professional.”

The hotel’s 25-metre, freshwater, infinity edge swimming pool is located on the first floor, enticing fitness buffs and sunbathers alike to take a dip and enjoy its panoramic views. After a swim guests can then refresh themselves with light snacks and beverages at Red Tilapia, the poolside bar.

Michelia is now offering a “Sweet Honeymoon” package, valid to December 20, at VND5,590,000++ for two. The package includes three days and two nights in a Deluxe Sea View room with airport transfers, daily buffet breakfasts in bed for two, a complimentary bottle of wine, cakes, fruit and flowers, and honeymoon decorations in the room.
If you are thinking about travelling to Vietnam and want to experience something new in Nha Trang, a stay at the Michelia should be high on your list.
