Preparations between Vasco and Viettravel took a record time of just 22 days.
The Vietnam Air Service Co. (Vasco) and Viettravel have signed a cooperative deal to open a new flight route from Can Tho to Da Lat, which will promote tourism development and enhance trade relations between the Mekong Delta and the central highlands’ city.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Vu Duc Bien, Deputy Director of Vasco, said that it normally takes three to six months to prepare for opening a new flight route. This new route, however, just took 22 days, which is considered a record in the history of aviation.
In its pilot stage there will be two return flights each week, on Thursdays and Sundays, using ATR72 aircraft with 67 seats,. The frequency is expected to be increased in the future. The flight from Da Lat takes off at 4.30pm and the flight from Can Tho at 5.35pm. Tickets will cost VND990,000 ($46).
Vasco is an air services company with 20 years of experience in the field. It currently conducts flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Mekong Delta and southern destinations such as Ca Mau, Con Dao Island, Tuy Hoa, Chu Lai, and Can Tho.
