In celebration of Vietnam’s 72nd National Day, the second annual Ben Tre Culture and Tourism Festival will take place in the Mekong Delta province until September 4, aimed at promoting the local tourism sector by introducing destinations, tourism products, cuisine, and traditional crafts from the province and the Mekong Delta in general to tour operators and tourists.

Highlights include a photo exhibition showcasing the province’s socioeconomic achievements, tourism seminars and workshops, and a bevy of food, music, dance, arts, crafts, and sports and cultural events. Some 300 stalls at the Tourism - Cuisine - Commerce Fair will introduce famous sights and tours and promotions underway by travel companies.

The provincial Tourism Association and a club for tour guides will also be launched at the festival.

The festival is also an opportunity for travel companies and other local business to meet and bolster links.

It will be held at the main hall of the Ben Tre Provincial People’s Committee, the Ben Tre Museum, and part of central Hung Vuong Street in Ben Tre city.

The number of tourists to Ben Tre province increases by an average of 13 per cent each year, with 43 per cent being international visitors. Income from tourism increases 22 per cent annually, contributing about 9 per cent to Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). Ben Tre has more than 72 tourist destinations and over 2,000 rooms.

It welcomed 1,150,000 tourists last year, including 500,000 international visitors and 650,000 domestic visitors, year-on-year increases of 15 per cent and 16 per cent, respectively.
