MasterCard Top 10 cities by tourism growth includes seven from Asia.
Ho Chi Minh City ranked tenth on a list of the Top 10 fastest growing tourism cities in the world, based on data gathered over six years by MasterCard’s Global Destination Cities Index. Colombo in Sri Lanka topped the list, with Ho Chi Minh City coming in just behind Tokyo and the Peruvian capital of Lima.

1. Colombo, Sri Lanka - 21.1 per cent
There were three parts to the Global Destination Cities Index, including Top 10 destinations for 2015 by projected visitors arrivals, Top 10 cities for international overnight visitor spend for 2015, and the Top 10 fastest growing tourist cities. MasterCard researched 132 nations before releasing the results.
Seven Asian cities featured on the list of the ten fastest growing tourist cities, which is based on tourism revenue over the last six years. Following Colombo, which grew 21.1 per cent, were Chengdu in China (20.7 per cent), Abu Dhabi (20.4 per cent), Osaka in Japan (19.8 per cent), and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia (18 per cent).
