Ho Chi Minh City welcomed more than 2 million foreign visitors in the first half of 2015, an increase of 3 per cent year-on-year and meeting 46 per cent of the yearly target.
Most tourists came from the US, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, France, and ASEAN, such as Singapore and Malaysia.
The city’s tourism sector has organized a series of domestic and international promotional events, such as the Southern Cuisine Festival and the Southern Fruit Festival. It also launched a website and hotline (1087) to provide tourism information.
The City's Department of Tourism plans to improve the quality and diversity of tourism services, including waterway tourism and artistic performances throughout the city.
