Budget carrier Jetstar has introduced direct flights from Dong Hoi, in the central province of Quang Binh, to the tourism center of Chiang Mai, in Thailand’s northern mountains. These are the first direct flights conducted between Vietnam and Chiang Mai.

Two return flights a week will be conducted on Mondays and Fridays using Airbus A320 aircraft with 180 seats. The flight time is one hour and 40 minutes. Ticket prices will average VND620,000 ($27) one way, excluding taxes and fees. A promotional program is being held to mark the launch, with tickets costing VND390,000 ($17) one way.

The new route not only offers travelers the opportunity to access affordable flights but also helps them save time when exploring famous destinations in both countries.

Quang Binh is endowed with long white sand beaches and a host of caves and other tourist sites, including Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, the world’s largest cave, Son Doong, and more than 300 other beautiful caves that attract domestic and international tourists.

Chiang Mai, 700 km north of Bangkok, is an important metropolis in Thailand. It was the capital of the Lanna Kingdom, established in 1296, and retains its own unique cultural identity with hundreds of temples and pagodas, including Wat Phra Singh, dating back to the 14th century, and Wat Chedi Luang from the 15th century.
