Hanoi icon in 66th spot on Travel+Leisure list while Hanoi and HCMC do well on list of Top 10 Asian cities.
The Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi scored its highest placement ever on one of the most prestigious lists of the world’s top hotels, according to the US’ Travel+Leisure.
The Metropole landed at the No. 61 spot of the world’s top 100 hotels as picked by readers of USA’s Travel + Leisure magazine. Last year, the Metropole won the No. 66 spot, and the year before No. 68.
Only five other hotels in the Far East bested the Metropole: the Peninsulas in Shanghai, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Tokyo, and the Mandarin-Oriental in Hong Kong. Only one other hotel from Vietnam made the top 100, the Park Hyatt in HCMC at No. 68.
Otherwise, Vietnam made a strong showing on a top-ten list of T+L readers’ favorites cities in Asia, with Hanoi claiming the No. 7 spot and Ho Chi Minh City at No. 9.
Travel + Leisure conducted this year’s survey between Nov. 2014 and March 2015. The magazine has been surveying the world’s top hotels and featuring the results every August since 1996.
