Following upgrades to Pleiku Airport, Vietnam Airlines will reopen the Hanoi - Pleiku route from September 5 and conduct four flights over the next week, on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. From September 15 to October 24 there will be daily flights, with frequency then being according to the carrier’s winter schedule after October 24. A321 aircraft will be used.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Pleiku route reopened on September 1. Flights both ways have seen seat occupancy at around 95 per cent. There will be one return flight daily on A321 aircraft until September 15, then three return flights daily using A321 and ATR72 aircraft until October 24. The winter schedule then applies.

To mark the reopening of the routes the price for a one-way ticket from Ho Chi Minh City to Pleiku is VND399,000 ($18) and from Hanoi to Pleiku VND799,000 ($35), until October 1.

Pleiku Airport was temporarily closed on March 15 for upgrades and reopened on September 1. The Airports Corporation of Vietnam conducted the upgrades, which cost VND945 billion ($42.05 million).
