Relaxing retreat

The ecological Flamingo Dai Lai Resort is a wonderful place for a family weekend or business gathering.

Dai Lai Lake is just a 45-minute drive from Hanoi in a beautiful natural setting, with lakes, mountains, and forests making it a great place to rest and enjoy the peace and quiet. Flamingo Dai Lai Resort is located on the north shore of Dai Lai Lake on 123 hectares and surrounded by 500 hectares of water surface and 10,000 hectares of natural forest. The resort was designed by international architects with villas set among trees by the lake.

Flamingo Dai Lai Resort is the only place in Vietnam to invest in creating a wonderful space with lakes, mountains, and gardens. Sixty per cent of the resort is lakes, landscapes and colourful gardens, with Zen Hill, Stone and Water Square, Bamboo Park, Peach Forest, and Plum Tree Forest, among others. Mr Binh Nguyen, an overseas Vietnamese, knew about Flamingo Dai Lai Resort from magazines and found it a truly wonderful place for a weekend retreat when he came to visit. “I spent a weekend here with some friends,” he said. “The staff are very kind and friendly and the food at restaurant is quite good. What I especially enjoyed was the many water sport activities available, such as kayaking and windsurfing. We did all of these and felt cool and refreshed. Our weekend here was great and we plan to come again.”

The Resort features many sub-projects offering high-end villas in different designs, including Thien Yen, Thien Hac, Lakeview and Hilltop villas. It also has facilities such as the Flamingo Convention Centre, Bamboo Wings Restaurant, the Flamingo Club, the Water and Boat Club, Flamingo Spa, Wonder Park, Seaside Bar and sporting facilities. “It’s a huge complex sitting on the edge of spectacular Dai Lai Lake,” said another guest, Ms Linh Lam. “I could go on with the superlatives and probably still not do the place justice.”

The care and attention to detail are excellent and the grounds are vast and well designed. Flamingo Dai Lai has lifeguards keeping watch over children as they swim in the lake and have lifejackets (given to all small children) and rubber rings. There are also a number of marquees and shaded picnic areas, a comfortable outdoor bar, a shaded pool table, pine forests where guests can stroll or play, and a children’s playground. “The staff are excellent and obviously well trained,” Ms Linh Lam added, “The service is to a very high standard and nothing seems to be too much trouble.”

The resort’s signature restaurant, Bamboo Wings, is a wonderful place to relax and has received many international awards for its design.

As a place for a business day out or even a family gathering, Flamingo Dai Lai Resort is perfect. There’s lots of space for the kids to run themselves ragged and get thoroughly worn out. It’s such a large space that many groups can use the grounds without getting in each other’s way. Residential estates have also been constructed, with the first ones looking very impressive and, it’s said, are selling for about VND2.8 billion ($140,000) onwards.

Flamingo Dai Lai Resort is now offering a MICE package starting from VND1.8 million ($900) per person, which includes a one-night stay in a Hilltop villa, breakfast, fruit and Flamingo cake when checking in, free use of bicycles, the tennis courts, and kayaks, a 50 per cent discount on spa services and a meeting at the Flamingo Conference Centre with a tea-break, lunch, free conference facilities, and drinks. The package applies to a minimum of 20 guests in the Classic meeting room and 50 guests at the Opera Hall meeting room.
