City's travel agencies seeing fewer South Korean tourists due to MERS outbreak.
As at June 11, South Korean arrivals to Da Nang hosted by travel agencies such as Omega have fallen by 30-40 per cent and Vitours by 5-10 per cent, and until the MERS outbreak is contained in South Korea the decline seems likely to continue.
Travel agencies in the central city have kept abreast of information about the virus and eased any concerns customers may have when traveling to South Korea. Many, however, have decided to postpone their trips to the country.
According to the Da Nang Department of Culture and Tourism, over the last few years the number of South Korean travelers has always been in the Top 10 arrivals to the city, ranking second in 2014 with 107,008.
There are 28 flights between Da Nang and South Korea each week, bringing 11,000 South Korean tourists every month.
