National flag carrier rated 4 stars by Skytrax for fourth time.

Vietnam Airlines has again been certified as a four-star airline by prestigious international air transport rating organization Skytrax.

This is the fourth consecutive year the national flag carrier has achieved the rating, as it continues to deliver an outstanding flying experience to all its passengers.

Skytrax’s assessment revealed that items where Vietnam Airlines was rated 4.5 to 5 stars increased 16 per cent compared to 2016, when it first received four-star certification.

Achieving Skytrax’s four-star international rating places Vietnam Airlines in esteemed company, alongside many of the world’s premium airlines, including Air France, British Airways, Emirates, and Korean Air.

In its quest for excellence, it continues to take great strides forward in further enhancing seamless customer travel experiences both on ground and inflight. It is the first airline in Vietnam to implement telephone check-in, along with existing services including in-town check-in, kiosk check-in, and check-in via website. Additionally, the newly-launched Meet and Greet services offers exceptional benefits to passengers who need special assistance at the airport.

The carrier has a wide-body fleet of 14 Airbus A350s and will take delivery of three Boeing 787-10s in 2019, while continuing to upgrade its narrow-body fleet with 20 Airbus A321neo, to be received by the end of 2020. This marks another milestone in the national flag carrier’s fleet development and expansion program as it moves towards Skytrax five-star status.

Highlights in its inflight experience can be seen in various service aspects. Passengers can enjoy innovative luxurious upgrades, such as expanded entertainment systems on Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 aircraft and a wider selection of inflight meals on both domestic and international routes.

The carrier has also put its Vietnamese roots at the very core of what the brand is in terms of image, hospitality, inspiration, creativity, and innovation, and makes travel more relaxing but still professional. From the “Four Seasons of Fruit” program, which serves distinctive seasonal fruit inflight to promote it among foreign travelers, to authentic Vietnamese delicacies in Business Class created by Luke Nguyen - Vietnam Airlines’ Cuisine Ambassador. Other product enhancements include blankets and linen in Business Class on long-haul routes.

Fueled by its ambition to become a digital airline, Vietnam Airlines has partnered with leading technology providers to onboard a number of advanced solutions, such as improved flight procedures, mobile apps, maps, and wi-fi on board, which will help it address the fast-changing air travel landscape.

Vietnam Airlines is planning to reduce its use of plastics and research suitable eco-friendly alternatives. This is an extension of its pioneering environmental efforts and testament to its commitment to lead effective change towards sustainability.

It attaches great importance to improvements in service through extensive training. Key investment in highly-specialized training for staff and cabin crew, human resources management, and operational performance will provide unparallel opportunities for Vietnam Airlines to become one of the leading airlines in Asia-Pacific.
