Key project to complete North - South Expressway has three investment possibilities.
The Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa province) to Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan province) expressway is expected to require total investment of around VND46.3 trillion ($2.16 billion).
There are three investment options available.
Option 1: from km0 to km235 (the entire 235km) with total investment of VND47.558 trillion ($2.218 billion). The project planning unit recognizes that the size of this investment is huge and it will be difficult to mobilize sufficient capital at this time.
Option 2: from km6 to km235 (228km) with total investment of VND46.33 trillion ($2.161 billion). This stretch will connect Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces with Nha Trang city. The total will improve investment efficiency and complete the North-South Expressway.
Option 3: from km3 to km235 (183km) with a total investment of VND39.937 trillion ($1.863 billion). This option does not require huge investment and is suitable for being divided into different periods. This option, however, will delay the progress of the North-South Expressway.
If the project is approved by the Ministry of Transport it will start in Q3 2015 and be completed by 2020.
The Nha Trang - Phan Thiet expressway is 235km long with four lanes. The starting point is Dien Tho commune in Khanh Hoa and the end point is at the km235 mark at the National Expressway 1A and Ba Bau crossing, which is also the end point of the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway (in Ham Kien Nam district, Binh Thuan province).
The project will facilitate the transport of goods and passengers and shorten travel times and will complete the North-South Expressway from Hanoi to Can Tho in the Mekong Delta.
