Plastic and packaging producer An Phat Holdings has announced it received investment of $15.6 million from South Korean asset management company Valuesystem.

The funding is part of the company’s plans to raise $200 million to support its growth over the next few years.

An Phat Holdings is valued at $143 million under the Valuesystem investment plan. This is the first step in a plan to arrange capital for member companies of the An Phat Group, to realize the bold but realistic business goal of reaching $1 billion in combined turnover by 2025.

The investment in An Phat is the first overseas funding by the $100-million fund managed by Valuesystem.

An Phat Holdings owns 32 per cent of An Phat Plastic (AAA) and 25 per cent of Vinh Plastic Bag (VBC). The company will use the proceeds to expand its manufacturing capacity and invest in technology improvements, said Mr. Dinh Xuan Cuong, CEO of An Phat Holdings.

Valuesystem is a fund management company with nine years of experience in the South Korea. “We believe this investment will generate good profits and more confidence among South Korean investors, opening the door for Valuesystem overseas,” said Mr. Jung Hwanjong, CEO of Valuesystem.

Established in 2003, An Phat Holdings is one of the leading plastic producers in Vietnam. Production output stood at 8,000 tons of finished products per month last year, making it the largest manufacturing and exporting plastic packaging company in Southeast Asia. Revenue and after-tax profit in 2017 was VND4 trillion ($176 million) and VND264 billion ($11.6 million), respectively.

Valuesystem is a young fund management company with nine years of experience but very active in South Korea. With the participation of leading financial experts from Wall Street and Seoul, the company has developed an online asset management system based on artificial intelligence technology, with the launch of Aibo Robo Advisor.
