Bank believes that collecting information via social media can help to improve customer service.
The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) officially inaugurated its first Social Media Command Center (SMCC) this morning.
Its main operation is tracking customer applications on Facebook. However, it would not break the privacy of Facebook users because it only tracked the public status of its customers, BIDV said.
By way of explaining the SMCC's operations, BIDV said that the tracking application was only used for improving its services and serving customers better. It believes that by tracking statuses about the bank on Facebook it can better collate public opinion.
"The founding of the SMCC is an important step to becoming a pioneer in technology and renewing our way of doing business," said the General Director of BIDV, Mr Phan Duc Tu.
The General Director of Boomerang Limited Company, Mr Vong Thanh Cuong, believes that the SMCC shows the strategic views of BIDV. Moreover, he believed that it would bring special value to BIDV customers.
This trend has become popular in developing countries. It is based on cloud computing platforms to share information and use it to collect customer feedback. BIDV has implemented the model in Vietnam after a year of research and development.
