South Korean conglomerate the CJ Group recently announced the opening of a new CJ Vina Agri Feed Production Plant in northern Ha Nam province.

The factory has total investment of $24.7 million and covers an area of 7.5 ha. Capacity is estimated about 300,000 tons a year, with 216,000 tons of livestock feed and 84,000 tons of fish feed. Construction began in October 2016.

“Vietnam is our most strategic investment area and we are using all our resources for investment and development,” said Mr. Lee Tae Ki, General Director of Biological Resource Business of CJ CheilJedang. “We will do our best to provide the best products and services by transferring advanced technology and scientific research from South Korea to contribute to the development of the livestock industry in general and the animal feed sector in particular.”

“CJ Group is committed to maximizing its investment to achieve the Great CJ 2020 target in medium and long-term plans, with revenue reaching $100 billion globally,” said Mr. Chang Bok Sang, Chairman of the CJ Group in Vietnam. “And Vietnam is our bright spot in achieving that goal.”

CJ Vina Agri began business in Vietnam in 2001 with the opening of its Long An factory, then opened a second in Hung Yen in 2006. It established an aquaculture feed mill in Vinh Long in 2008, and in 2015 opened a factory in Dong Nai. Another plant, in Binh Dinh, will be completed this month.

The CJ Group last year announced it would invest nearly $62 million in an integrated production base applying advanced technology in Ho Chi Minh City’s Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park. Once completed in July it will include a processing facility, an R&D center, and a food safety control system.
