EVN appoints new Chairman

Mr. Duong Quang Thanh takes up post under Prime Ministerial Decision.

Mr. Duong Quang Thanh has been appointed Chairman of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) under Decision No. 386/QD-TTg signed on March 25 by the Prime Minister.

Mr. Pham Le Thanh, General Director of EVN, previously held the post after Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong, the former chairman, was appointed Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.

Mr. Thanh, born on July 15, 1962, is from central Quang Binh province. He holds an economics doctorate from University of Science and Technology in Vietnam and a Master's Degree from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand.

He has more than 30 years experience in the electricity industry, including 20 years at EVN. From March 2007 he was Deputy General Director, in charge of preparing investment projects in nuclear power, building the electricity power market, human resources training, and construction and electricity grid management, especially in key power projects in Vietnam's south.
