Cars tested from January 25 subject to new fees.
Passenger cars of less than seven seats will be subject to a fuel consumption testing fee of VND16 million ($720) for those using gasoline and VND16.5 million ($742.5) for those using diesel, from January 25, under Circular No. 199/2015 from the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
The regulation is applicable to all companies that produce, assemble or import cars of less than seven seats.
When registering for a certificate on energy labeling, companies must also pay a fee of VND100,000 ($4.4) per vehicle to Vietnam Registry.
Under a provision from MoF dated January 1, 2015, cars of less than seven seats produced, assembled, or imported are required to have energy labeling before being put on the market, to assist consumers in identifying and choosing energy efficient vehicles.
MoF collected public opinion on fuel consumption testing fees last October.
