The first of 100 or so new purchases by Vietjet Air has taken to the skies in a trial flight.
Vietjet Air's first A320 on order from Airbus has reached a new production milestone, having successfully undertaken its first flight in Toulouse, France. The aircraft is the first of up to 100 of the best-selling single aisle aircraft the carrier will acquire under a deal finalised in February. The plan covers firm orders with Airbus for 63 aircraft plus purchase rights to 30 more. Vietjet Air will also lease seven other aircraft from third-party lessors. The acquisitions will join its existing fleet of 16 leased A320s and will be operated on its expanding network of domestic and regional routes.
