Taiwanese Group discusses the possibilities with Provincial People's Committee.
Taiwan's Formosa Group has met with the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee to study four investment projects: a modern industrial farming operation on an area of 600 hectares, a premium entertainment complex with golf courses and two five-star hotels, an iron ore processing plant, and a plant using by-products from its Ha Tinh Formosa Steel Corporation.
The modern industrial farming project will have some 4 million pigs and 100 million chickens and earn revenue of $1.5 billion per year while creating 20,000 jobs. To support the Group, the People's Committee has directed related agencies and departments to seek a location for the project.
Regarding the plant using by-products from the Ha Tinh Formosa Steel Corporation, local authorities have asked the Group to provide a detailed report on its investment scale, human resources needs, and environmental impact, for the province to consider before making a decision.
Last week the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee met with a number of enterprises to research and examine investment projects in the province. Addressing the gathering, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoai, said that with its favorable conditions for business investment the province has 320 registered projects with capital of nearly $5 billion.
