Business delegation in Vietnam on June 16 and 17 to meet domestic importers.
A French business delegation in the medical technology industry will visit Vietnam on June 16 and 17 to seek opportunities and meet domestic importers and potential customers, the French Embassy has announced. Organized by Business Vietnam, the French trade agency, meetings will be held in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Reputable French enterprises in the delegation include Bertin Technologies, Vygon, Ata, Medicrea, Gelscom, Thuasne, Helioscopie, and Delacroix Chevalier. They will focus on certain sectors such as processing medical waste, surgical equipment, and others medical devices.
According to Business Vietnam, revenue in Vietnam’s medical technology market was $800 million in 2014 and is expected to be $1.2 billion next year. Vietnam has been evaluated as a strong-growth market in medical technology for the years to come.
Annual growth is forecast at over 18 per cent from 2012 to 2017. Due to the undeveloped nature of domestic manufacturers, over 90 per cent of medical technology is imported and this represents a huge opportunity for French enterprises.
Vietnam’s healthcare sector faces a range of major challenges in improving its quality and reducing overcrowding at hospitals. When improvements are made there will be significant demand for new medical equipment.
