The Vietnam Food Administration (VFA) at the Ministry of Health (MoH) and Grab, through GrabFood, signed a three-year cooperation agreement to improve food safety awareness in the community on April 25 in Hanoi.

VFA and GrabFood will coordinate to implement information activities to raise awareness of food hygiene and safety at restaurant partners and food transport partners and consumers.

The two will hold four training sessions for restaurant partners to provide full knowledge about food hygiene and safety. The program will help GrabFood inform restaurant partners, creating a quality and reputable network.

GrabFood will also coordinate with the VFA to distribute 6,000 food safety guideline booklets to six large cities and provinces, such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hai Phong.

It will also meet the need for transportation solutions among restaurant partners, promoting messages and raising awareness about food safety with related parties.

Ms. Tran Viet Nga, Deputy Director of the VFA, said that in recent years, communications on food safety have been a key task of the administration and this is an official information exchange channel between State management agencies, businesses, and consumers. “We appreciate the cooperation between the two parties,” she added. “This is a development orientation that other businesses in Vietnam will also implement to support the government in propagating and resolving issues related to food safety.”

Mr. Jerry Lim, Grab Vietnam’s Country Head, said the implementation of the strategic cooperation agreement lays the foundation for other long-term, comprehensive strategic plans between the VFA and Grab in the future. “As a pioneer in communications support in conjunction with the VFA, Grab, via GrabFood, hopes to convey messages to millions of users as well as restaurant partners, improve quality, and ensure food hygiene and safety, thereby bringing a healthy life to the Vietnamese community,” he noted.

In signing the cooperation arrangement with the VFA, Grab demonstrates its long-term investment commitment in Vietnam in cooperation with the government to contribute to resolving food safety problems. Accordingly, Grab is not only an app that meets daily necessities but also strives to increase community awareness on related issues.
