Grab Vietnam and Mekong Taxi announced a cooperative arrangement on October 27 to deploy GrabTaxi services in the Mekong Delta’s Bac Lieu province.

The arrangement further confirms Grab's long-term commitment to local taxi companies, to increase the efficiency of taxi operations, promote the application of technology in transportation, and provide the greatest benefits to users.

With the goal of connecting taxi drivers with passengers via the Grab platform, GrabTaxi will greatly assist Mekong Taxi in reducing its operating costs and increasing its business efficiency and cost management.

Through the Grab application, taxi drivers are also more efficient by increasing vehicle use, reducing turnaround times to pick up guests and the time their vehicles are empty, increasing incomes as a result.

Passengers have more convenient options, in addition to older ways of calling a taxi such as waving one down on the street or calling the operator.

The Grab app also helps passengers understand basic information about the car and the driver, thereby improving the safety and transparency of transport services.

Mr. Jerry Lim, General Director Grab Vietnam, said that, as a technology company, Grab is providing an open platform and welcomes all taxi companies to work together to provide a safe, convenient transportation service for users and increase business efficiency for the company and driver incomes. “We have a motto of cooperation in every country and seek to play a supporting role in the taxi business and public transport,” he said. “We are very excited to cooperate with Mekong Taxi to bring the benefits of technology to all people in Bac Lieu province.”

Mr. Do Hieu Dao, Chairman and General Director of Mekong Taxi, said the transportation market is constantly developing and requires taxi companies constantly innovate and grasp the technology to maintain a competitive position in the market. “The cooperation with Grab will help us accelerate the application of technology in transportation, thereby improving the quality of services and better meeting the needs and preferences of different customers while raising income for drivers,” he said.

Mekong Taxi has been operating for over four years in the Mekong Delta region, with more than 400 taxi cabs. After GrabTaxi launched in Bac Lieu, Grab and Mekong look forward to expanding GrabTaxi’s services to most provinces in the Delta in the near future.
