The Hoa Binh Construction and Real Estate Corporation (HBC) was officially named the winner of the contract for construction and equipment installation in the project to expand Tan Son Nhat International Airport’s Terminal 2 (T2).

The expansions to T2, with Airports Corporation of Vietnam as the investor, has two phases: expanding the eastern wing (Phase 1) and expanding the western wing (Phase 2).

HBC will be in charge of the first phase, leading five other domestic contractors and designing and constructing the necessary infrastructure and special equipment. The contract is worth VND600 billion ($27.5 million), or 55 per cent of the total contract for the expansions. HBC expected to finish construction within the 417 days stipulated in the contract.

After the expansion, Tan Son Nhat Airport’s T2 will be capable of serving 13 million travelers each year, 3 million higher than its current capacity.

HBC also recently won bids to design and construct certain office blocks, such as Sai Gon Office 1 in District 7 in Ho Chi Minh City, part of Mapletree’s SC VivoCity project. The building has Grade A office space on 17 floors meeting US standards. The contract is worth nearly VND440 billion ($20.16), with construction to be completed within 415 days.
