Heineken Vietnam has been recognized as one of the best companies to work for in Asia for the second consecutive year by HR Asia magazine, one of Asia’s leading publications for human resources (HR) professionals. The recognition was announced at a ceremony last week in Ho Chi Minh City crowning of the best companies to work for in Asia - Vietnam Chapter.

Heineken Vietnam is all about people, who are the core of its business. The company therefore continually empowers and develops its employees by offering a range of training programs, especially STA and GO Places programs for employees at all levels, to maximize their prospects and offer them a safe, proactive workplace for continual learning and growth.

“We believe the better trained our people are, the bigger the impact they will have on our company and the country,” said Mr. Leo Evers, Managing Director of Heineken Vietnam. He added that Heineken Vietnam has incorporated its sustainability strategy into its core business, with a key focus on caring for People, Planet and Prosperity. Heineken Vietnam’s business success is very much due to its commitment to its people, who build the company’s working environment for themselves.

Heineken Vietnam has invested immensely in developing staff at all levels. Employees benefit from the company’s people development program to increase their capacity and skill sets, as well as innovative programs like short-term assignments (STA) in which employees who attend the program have the chance to experience a new work field, a different working environment, an unfamiliar culture, and different team members.

The Heineken Vietnam Graduate Program (HVGP) as well as its regional initiative, the Asia Pacific Graduate Program (APGP), nurtures high-potential individuals, giving them the opportunity to work and learn in Heineken offices around the world. Since its launch, “The Accelerate Your Talent” program has seen 12 employees attending short-term overseas assignments in Laos, China, Singapore, Japan, Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, and Mexico.

In 2018, the company invested VND31 billion ($1.3 million) on developing its people. These investments are testament to Heineken Vietnam’s commitment to ensuring a highly-skilled workforce.

Heineken Vietnam understands that the effectiveness of HR strategies is measured by employee satisfaction and engagement, so provides platforms to listen to their feedback and takes prompt actions to improve the working environment. It does this by hosting periodic town hall meetings and an annual Climate Survey, which encourages employees to share their feedback, ideas, and suggestions with the Management Team.

The results are consistent with the 2018 Climate Survey, in which Heineken Vietnam achieved the highest engagement score within Heineken (scoring 92), with an exceptional participation rate (with 98 per cent of employees responding to the survey).

The long-term commitment of staff who have served the company over ten, 20 and 25 years is compelling evidence of not just their passion but also that they truly enjoy working for Heineken Vietnam and that the company truly is an employer of choice in Vietnam and Asia.
