EPC contract signed to increase ammonia production at the plant.
The PetroVietnam Fertiliser and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) has recently signed an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract with an international contractor consortium to extend the Phu My NH3 plant at the Phu My NPK Plant in the Phu My 1 Industrial Zone in southern Ba Ria Vung Tau province.
The EPC contractors include Italy’s Technip Group, Germany’s ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions, and the PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) from Vietnam.
The extended Phu My NH3 plant will cover an area of over 15 hectares. Seventy per cent of its VND5 trillion ($229.2 million) investment capital will come from bank loans and 30 per cent from the owner’s equity.
Once completed the plant’s capacity will increase by 90,000 tonnes of NH3 (ammonia) per year, from the current 450,000 tonnes per year to 540,000 tonnes.
Products from the plant will be used as materials for the Phu My NPK Plant and for supply to the local market, where they are in short supply.
The project is expected to be put into operation in the second quarter of 2017.
