Businesses from Veneto region pay visit to look at Vietnam in greater detail.
A program connecting Vietnamese enterprises with a business delegation from the Veneto region of Italy has been held by the Italian Chamber of Commerce (ICHAM) in Vietnam and Veneto Promozions with the aim of promoting trade between Vietnam and Italy in general and the Veneto region in particular.
Mr. Pham Hoang Hai, CEO of ICHAM in Vietnam, said there are eight enterprises in the Veneto region, focusing on interior decoration, lighting equipment, office furniture, catering equipment for hotels and restaurants, machinery, equipment and materials for construction, and agriculture.
Veneto is one of six key economic regions of Italy with more than 4 million people. Its GDP in 2015 was $186.6 billion, accounting for 9.1 per cent of Italy’s total, and it is strong in technology, textiles, seafood processing, horticulture, and interiors.
According to Mr. Hai the Italian Government prioritizes trade promotion and trade promotion programs will therefore be boosted this year.
Italian companies have shown a strong interest in Vietnam, especially since the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and the TPP were signed. Prior to investing they want to look further into the country, especially intellectual property protection and support from the financial system.
Nearly 100 Vietnamese enterprises took part in the event, one of a series of trade promotion programs held by Vietnam and Italy in 2016.
