Special SIM card part of efforts to promote the development of macadamia trees in Vietnam.
The LienViet Post Joint Stock Commercial Bank (LienVietPostBank) has sponsored VND10 trillion ($465 million) for the Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services Company (MobiFone) to release the "macca SIM card", with a signing ceremony held on June 3.
Both sides agreed to jointly issue the macca SIM card with the aim of spreading information about the development of macadamia trees in Vietnam. Customers who use the SIM card will receive messages on the preferential policies of the government, the business environment, market prices, and other relevant services that serve the growing of trees and the production of macadamia products.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Mr. Pham Hong Hai, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, appreciated the cooperative effort. “Both LienVietPostBank and MobiFone will use their own strengths to develop better products and services for consumers,” he said.
The issuing of the macca SIM card is a part of range of activities to develop macadamia trees being conducted by LienVietPostBank and the Him Lam Joint Stock Company. It is expected that over the next five to ten years the bank will spend around VND20 trillion ($930 million) on a macadamia tree investment campaign in the central highlands.
