Students facing difficult circumstances receive financial assistance from Lotte Group's foundation.
Seventy-six students from eight universities in Hanoi were awarded $200 scholarships from the Lotte Foundation on October 15.
“It is a great honor for me to be Lotte’s representative and send our warmest congratulations to the 76 excellent students who received the scholarships today,” said Mr. Lee Jung Youl, General Director of Lotte Hotel Hanoi. “Please do not stop and be satisfied with the success you have achieved. I hope you will continue to do your best and become talent for Vietnam. Lotte always welcomes talent such as yourselves.”
In Vietnam the Lotte Foundation has presented scholarships to students in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City worth a total of $55,000 each year in two terms since 2008.
This year it presented scholarships totaling $180,000 to 172 students at 23 universities in countries including Vietnam, China, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Lotte Foundation is the scholarship fund established by the Chairman of the Lotte Group, Shin Kyuk Ho, in 1983 to support students who face difficult circumstances. He expects the scholarship will contribute to easing the financial pressure on students and encourage them to concentrate on their studies.
In the more than 30 years since its inception the fund has presented scholarships worth $38 million to 33,000 students in different countries around the world.
Lotte has also built Lotte schools for Vietnamese children with difficult lives in provinces such as Quang Ngai and Bac Giang and is now building another in Thai Nguyen.
