South Korean giant joins a host of suitors keen to pick up the retail chain in Vietnam.
South Korean conglomerate the Lotte Group has submitted an initial bid for Casino Guichard Perrachon SA’s Big C retail chain in Vietnam, Reuters reported on March 11, quoting a source with direct knowledge of the matter.
First round bids were due on March 10, the source added, without elaborating further. A Lotte Group spokeswoman declined to comment to Reuters.
Berli Jucker and the Central Group from Thailand as well as Japan’s Aeon and Dairy Farm International Holdings, who owns one of the largest retail chains in Singapore and Hong Kong, including 7-Eleven, Cold Storage, Guardian, Wellcome, Giant, and Hero, have all previously been reported as having an eye on Big C.
