On the occasion of the first annual visit by a delegation of European ambassadors to Ho Chi Minh City, the EU-Vietnam Business Network (EVBN) hosted an event to present its ambitious plan of gathering 150 new European premium lifestyle-related brands in Vietnam in May at its flagship annual event, the EuroSphere exhibition.

EVBN is a co-funded by the EU and aims to strengthen activities by European businesses in Vietnam, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking cooperative opportunities.

The event saw the presence of H.E. Bruno Angelet, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam, and 19 ambassadors, from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and the UK.

In light of the upcoming EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), European ambassadors confirmed the benefits for European companies to expand and for Vietnamese partners and consumers to have greater choice in terms of quality products in lifestyle-related sectors.

“With increasing disposable incomes, Vietnamese consumers love high-quality and exquisite European-designed products,” said Mr. Pierre-Jean Malgouyres, EVBN’s Chairman. “While Ho Chi Minh City is Vietnam’s business hub, the upcoming free trade agreement is expected to make business even easier. Vietnam therefore represents the next logical market in which to introduce European brands. EuroSphere will bring a new type of experience to visitors while European companies will be able to meet with potential new local and regional distributors and clients.”

Ten interior designers from France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, and Germany attended the event to express their views on the opportunities for them in Vietnam. Some also shared their positive experience as participants at the 2017 EuroSphere, by explaining how the event had benefitted their brands.

The presentation took place in the newly-opened Roche Bobois store in Vietnam, a high-end French design furniture company whose products are distributed by the Hoang Nam Group, attended by the ten European designers and EVBN’s main partners - Vietnam International Fashion Week, the French Council of Commerce, the Italian Chamber of Commerce, the European Chamber of Commerce, and numerous media partners.

The first edition of the EuroSphere exhibition was held in June last year in Ho Chi Minh City and presented 80 European brands to 2,500 international visitors. After its success, the 2018 edition is now looking for larger visibility. It will last three days, from May 18 to 20, at the White Palace Convention Center. EuroSphere expects to gather 150 European brands and welcome more than 4,500 international visitors, mainly from Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
