Ceiling may be removed as early as July, according to Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung.
The Ministry of Finance expects the price of milk products for children under six years old will be floated by the beginning of next year after price ceilings are eliminated.
Management agencies have been set up to guarantee the market remains stable and in the future stability will be maintained through the use of improved management and economic measures.
Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung said that Vietnam would consider removing the price ceiling on dairy products for children under six years old from July.
Officials have also considered economic solutions in a bid to manage milk prices under the market mechanism, Mr. Dung said.
The removal of the ceiling, however, must guarantee competitiveness and balance benefits among business, the State and consumers, he added. Enterprises also have to safeguard transparency.
The price ceiling began on June 1, 2014 under Decision No. 1079/QD-BTC on measures to stabilize the prices of milk products for children under 6 years old.
