Bitexco's successful no-load operation of first generator group paves way for full operation of the Dien Bien plant next month.
The Bitexco Group put the first generator group at the Nam Muc Hydropower Plant in north-west Dien Bien province into no-load operation yesterday to celebrate Dien Bien Phu Victory Day (May 7).
After the successful no-load operation, the first generator group will be put into official operation sometime this month, joining the national electricity grid and contributing greatly to improving the living standards of the province’s citizens and developing the local economy.
The second generator group is being swiftly installed and is expected to be put into no-load operation in June.
Construction of the Nam Muc Hydropower Plant began in 2006 but only in mid-2012, when its management was handed over to Bitexco, did the project quicken the pace of its construction and installation.
The plant has been designed to have two generator groups with a total capacity of 44 MW and an annual power output of 176.33 kWh, becoming the largest hydropower plant in Dien Bien province.
