Construction of new factory gets underway at Saigon Hi-Tech Park.
Schneider Electric Vietnam held a ceremony on January 26 to begin the first phase of construction of a new factory at Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP).
The company will consolidate its existing manufacturing operations now based in the Bien Hoa 1 and Amata Industrial Parks into the new state-of-the-art facility at SHTP in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 9.
The factory will manufacture electronic products for smart homes together with traditional electrical equipment that have been manufactured in Vietnam for nearly 20 years. In the first phase a plant is to be built on an area of 10,000 sq m and be a major production center for Asia-Pacific by the end of the year.
“The products from the plant will not only serve customers in Vietnam and promote the development of ‘Made in Vietnam’ products but are also for export to key markets around the world,” said Mr. Tran Huu Phuoc, General Director of Schneider Electric Vietnam. “With the new plant we will bring more value to the Vietnam market through our ability to offer products with the same level of quality as other markets around the world, such as the US, Germany, and Argentina.”
To meet growth in demand over the years to come the company is looking for skilled workers and engineers in the technology sector. It will also offer more training opportunities for local staff to help them improve their technical skills, improve the workplace environment, and give employees the opportunity to work abroad.
