Local associates of market research giant join worldwide day of helping those less fortunate.
More than 300 Nielsen Vietnam’s associates volunteered their time and talent to support the 4th Annual Nielsen Global Impact Day (NGID) and make an impact on local communities in and around six cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Can Tho.
This year the NGID focused on hunger and nutrition. In the south, for example, over 200 associates visited the Hiep Binh Chanh Nursing Home for Homeless and Disabled Elders in Thu Duc district in Ho Chi Minh City and the Chanh Phu Hoa Center for Handicapped Children & Orphans in Ben Cat district in nearby Binh Duong province.
The Nielsen associates spent time preparing lunch for residents and handing over at total of VND300 million ($13,761) in donations raised by Nielsen associates and sponsors. The Nielsen team also put on a unique entertainment performance for all.
“Our annual NGID tradition provides a unique opportunity for all associates around the world, especially in Vietnam, to come together on this common day of service in our communities,” said Mr. Vaughan Ryan, Managing Director of Nielsen Vietnam. “It’s our mission to give back to those who are not as lucky as us. And this is what life’s all about.”
This year the NGID was generously sponsored with in-kind gifts from companies such as Oishi (Liwayway), Dumex, Pham Nguyen, Perfetti Van Melle, Reeva (Uniben), TH True Milk, Love-in-Farm (IDP), Tetra Pak, Shop & Go, Circle K, and P&G.
NGID is an annual worldwide event for all Nielsen associates around the world to come together and make a difference in the communities in which they live and work. This year nearly 20,000 associates worldwide engaged in more than 1,000 registered volunteer activities in over 85 countries.
