Factory expected to meet domestic demand and maximize local resources.
The Nutrition Food Joint Stock Company (NutiFood Vietnam) has began construction of the NutiFood milk factory at the Kien Khe Industrial Park in northern Ha Nam province. The factory is designed to produce 200 million liters of liquid milk and 31,000 tonnes of powdered milk annually.
Speaking at the breaking ground ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai asked NutiFood to pay attention to environmental protection matters as well as guarantee product quality for domestic consumption and exports.
The largest milk factory in the northern region, the facility will be located on ten hectares with total costs estimated at VND1.6 trillion ($73.6 million). In the first phase, to the middle of 2016, capacity is expected to reach 80 million liters of liquid milk and 10,000 tonnes of powdered milk per year. Then, by 2018, the factory will invest in more production lines to run at maximum capacity in the second phase, of 120 million liters of liquid milk and 21,000 tonnes of powdered milk per year.
As well as liquid milk and powdered milk, other main products of the factory include nutritional food and dairy products for the elderly, children, pregnant women, and people suffering from diseases.
The Ha Nam People's Committee previously granted an investment license to NutiFood and signed an agreement with the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group to develop a dairy farm in the province.
The Secretary of the Ha Nam Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Ha Nam People's Committee, Mai Tien Dung, said "the building of the factory is in line with the industrial direction the province wishes to take." Ha Nam has created favorable conditions for NutiFood to prepare and implement the project, which is expected to help meet domestic demand and maximize local resources.
