Parkson Landmark Keangnam closes doors

Tenants given 24 hours to move out.

Despite the Christmas and New Year rush, an announcement was sent to shop owners in the Parkson Landmark Keangnam in Hanoi telling them to collect all items and shut their doors on January 2.

The announcement was signed by Mr. Tiang Chee Sung, General Director of the Parkson Landmark business center.

Shop owners said that they were surprised because they received the announcement via email on the same day, January 2. Others said that at 2pm on that day a Parkson staff member told them to remove all items from their shops immediately.

Under the announcement, shop owners were allowed collect items from their shops on January 3 and 4. Nonetheless, security at the shopping center closed all doors on January 2.

"Since it opened in 2011, Parkson Landmark's performance has not been to our expectations," the announcement stated, adding that many shops had suffered major losses.

One shop owner said she still had a lease valid for a year, which she signed recently and paid $18,680 as a deposit.
