The Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee and Vietnam Airlines held a signing ceremony for a strategic cooperation agreement to support the development and promotion of tourism in the northern province while expending the network of flights to and from Van Don International Airport and the image and routes of Vietnam Airlines to the city.

Quang Ninh will build and implement a special support mechanism for new routes to Van Don International Airport in the first phase, to stimulate travel demand. The province will also preside over introducing Quang Ninh to key markets in Europe, Australia, and Northeast Asia.

Vietnam Airlines commits to researching and conducting promotions to expand domestic and international flights to and from Van Don this year and into the future, based on market demand.

The carrier will also coordinate in the implementation of Quang Ninh’s tourism promotions and investment plans and the sponsorship of cultural, artistic, and national tourism events in the 2018-2021 period.

The agreement aims to promote the destination of Quang Ninh and the image of Vietnam Airlines in the media, including outdoor billboards, TV, newspapers, and other publications, and when Vietnam Airlines attends global fairs.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Long, Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, told the signing ceremony that the future holds great promise for the development of aviation transport and auxiliary activities in Quang Ninh. “The province hopes that Vietnam Airlines will provide support in researching and promoting the expansion of international and domestic flights to Van Don International Airport in 2018, while supporting local participation in the promoting of domestic and international tourism and the destination of Quang Ninh province in the publications of Vietnam Airlines,” he said.

Mr. Duong Tri Thanh, General Director of Vietnam Airlines, told the ceremony that the agreement is a major step forward in pushing tourism to Quang Ninh in particular and to Vietnam in general. “In addition to the implementation of the agreement, Vietnam Airlines will also study the setting up of new routes to Cat Bi Airport and Van Don International Airport within the SkyTeam alliance and European airlines,” he added. “We hope that Quang Ninh’s tourism promotion campaigns will provide breakthroughs and efficiency in the future.”
