HCMC conference to hear expert opinions on the prospects for Vietnam's retail market.
The “Vietnam’s Retail Flat World - Challenges or Opportunities” conference will be held on March 28 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The conference will have three main features: releasing research on Vietnam’s retail market, analyzing shares in the retail sector, and the perspectives of retail enterprises. It also has a Q&A session on Vietnam’s retail market.
In attendance will be representatives from the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, the Vietinbank Securities JSC, market researcher GfK Vietnam, and the MobileWorld Investment Corporation.
Vietnam’s retail sector has seen penetration by major foreign retailers in recent years, such as Lotte from South Korea, Aeon from Japan, and BJC and Power Buy from Thailand. On December 31, 2015, the ASEAN Economic Community officially came into being, meaning that Vietnam is not just a market of 90 million people but a market of 600 million people.
Vietnamese leaders have made notable efforts to remove all obstacles to bring the country to international standards. Integration has raised many questions on what Vietnamese enterprise must do to prepare for new global playing field.
Experts will assess the prospects for Vietnam’s retail market at the conference and provide consultation to investors looking at the country’s retail sector.
