Second high-tech park in city to have total capital of $176 million and open in 2020.
The Science and Technology Park will be invested by Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) with total capital of over VND4 trillion ($176 million) and be located in District 9 on an area of 200 ha. Completion is expected in 2020.
At a workshop on investment promotion for the Park, held by SHTP on September 16, Mr. Duong Minh Tam, Deputy Head of the Management Department of SHTP, said that Ho Chi Minh City is focusing investment on high-tech development and application, contributing to transforming the economic growth model of the city in particular and the whole country in general.
According to SHTP the immediate objective of the project is to attract investment in high-tech production, the development of new technologies, and the establishment of technology research centers.
Once in operation the main activities at the Park will be information technology, the manufacture of products using renewable energy, space technology, mechatronics and automation, medical technology, and the development of high quality human resources.
SHTP, the city’s first high-tech park, has attracted 80 projects with total investment of over $4.3 billion. Foreign direct investment (FDI) at the Park accounts for 48 per cent of the city’s total FDI.
