The Vietnamese-based OSB Investment and Technology JSC (OSB) has cooperated with AliExpress, a leading cross-border e-commerce platform under the Alibaba Group, to support Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in exporting their online products to global markets on a B2C basis.

Mr. Tran Dinh Toan, Deputy CEO of OSB, told the partnership announcement ceremony on July 24 that the partnership with AliExpress in Vietnam is a turning point for the development of OSB. “Following eight years of cooperation with Alibaba.com in the B2B ecommerce market, we are excited to work together with AliExpress to give SMEs access to key global consumer markets around the world,” he said. “We hope that OSB and AliExpress can work together to develop both Vietnam’s e-commerce market and export market.”

The initiative comes amid the increasing importance of exports to Vietnam’s economy. According to the General Department of Customs, total trade in 2017 was $425 billion, up 21.2 per cent compared to 2016.

Cross-border e-commerce is a crucial channel for local exporters, of which 32 per cent are SMEs setting up business relations with foreign partners through online channels, according to the Vietnam E-Business Index 2017. It provides them with direct access to global buyers and reduces the costs involved in building a supply chain and setting up offices in destination markets.

Founded in 2007, OSB is one of Vietnam’s leading e-commerce providers. As the First Authorized Reseller of Alibaba.com in Vietnam (since June 2009), it has extensive experience in internet marketing solutions, including web design, search engine optimization, e-commerce solutions, and importer search.

It also operates in the key sectors of e-commerce services and solutions, information technology, satellite - wireless communications, and education.

Launched in 2010, the Alibaba Group-backed AliExpress (www.aliexpress.com) is a global retail marketplace that enables consumers from around the world to buy directly from manufacturers and distributors in China. Top consumer markets where AliExpress is popular are Russia, the US, Brazil, Spain, France and the UK.
