Thailand's largest consumer products distributor, Saha Group, approached by Japanese partner over expansion in Vietnam, according to reports in Bangkok Post.
The Saha Group, Thailand’s largest consumer products conglomerate, is negotiating with a Japanese partner over a joint expansion of its logistics and property ventures in Vietnam next year, according to the Bangkok Post. A representative of the Group said it was approached by the Japanese partner as the Group has had a presence in the country for many years.
“We want to invest more abroad,” the representative said. “In Vietnam we are interested in logistics, property and wholesale and in expanding our property business in the long term.”
Thailand has a geographical advantage in expanding business activities in Vietnam, the newspaper wrote, and Saha has experience in logistics and product distribution in the country. It has established the Saha Vietnam Co. to distribute consumer products via retail outlets. If the expansion deal is concluded it would help the Saha Group improve its competitiveness in the regional market.
Saha previously joined hands with the Yangon-based retailer the MK Group to set up a distribution company in Myanmar as a springboard to distribute and market more products in neighboring countries. It also recently opened a garment factory in Myanmar to serve both the domestic market and exports to Thailand.
